This wood has been salvaged and reclaimed, every piece has been used, now it can be used again! This barnwood has a very unique appearance and is superior to the wood that you can purchase new in stores now days. This barnwood is very old and is not milled and cut in this fashion any more. This piece is made with black angle iron and brown roughsawn salvaged barnwood. Table and trunk is finished with a clear, high traffic polyurethane, which provides maximum protection to scratching and scuffing - for maximum durability. The particular table that you receive may have slightly different characteristics than the one in the picture. Most antique barn wood was logged from old growth trees 50-150 years ago.

Info on Barnwood and recycled furniture:

"The increased strength of reclaimed wood is often attributed to the lack of air pollution that existed up until the 20th century as well as the wood often being harvested from virgin growth timber, which had hundreds of years to grow before man touched them. Reclaimed lumber can be sawn into wider planks than the harvested lumber and is more stable than newly cut wood because reclaimed wood has been exposed to changes in humidity for far longer and is therefore more stable."

*Purchase your furniture from recycled barn wood materials to help save our forests. It also cuts back on the energy usage associated with cutting, milling, and delivering since this wood has already been used once.
